Chase Bank in Granada Hills Robbed; Three Dead in Attack

A Chase bank on Granada Hills was robbed at 3:34 p.m. The assault left three people dead, and about five wounded. According to employees and other eyewitnesses, three unidentified men walked into the bank, and opened fire on three people. Five were targeted as well, but suffered minor injuries in the arms and legs. All three were wearing a black mask and bullet vests. One seemed to have firing an automatic assualt rifle, while the other two carried pistols. The robbers then walked over to the bank manager, Dick Beasley, and forced him to open the safe. After three minutes of violence and money stealing, the robbers broke into a black Toyota Corolla that was parked in front of the bank, and drove away. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene two minutes later.

Aftermath

A total of about $410,000 were stolen during the attack. Three were pronounced dead at the scene and have been identified as 59-year-old Marcus Lepage, 27-year-old Veronica Shaw, and 44-year-old Edgar Hutchins. All three were employees at the bank. The bank manager, Dick Beasley, had this to say, "It was a terrible tragedy to what happened, for the entire community, and especially for the loss of the lovely people I got to call my employees. Our thoughts and prayers are to Veronica, Marcus, and Edgar's families and friends." Sgt. Carson Snow remarked on the robbery, "Please, if anyone has information regarding the robbery, contact us. We will bring justice and find the people responsible for this."
